Questions for a Van Electrical Safety Review
Bring a clear design brief to the professional reviewing your installation.
A camper-van electrical review should cover the complete installation, not just the battery and inverter. Use these questions to prepare a discussion with a qualified professional familiar with mobile systems.

What requirements and equipment instructions govern this design? Ask for the applicable basis rather than a general claim that the system is “safe” or “to code.” A photo cannot establish compliance.
How were conductors and protective devices selected? The review should address actual current, installation conditions, voltage drop, fault current, and protective-device characteristics. Victron's DC guidance explains why fuse selection includes voltage and interrupt ratings as well as amperage. Victron Wiring Unlimited DC wiring.
How is equipment secured against vehicle movement, and how are cables protected from abrasion, strain, and heat? Ask how inspection and service remain possible once cabinets are complete.
What happens during a fault or a depleted battery? Have the reviewer explain normal shutdowns, emergency isolation, warning indications, and any loads that require an orderly shutdown. A fuel heater may need power for its after-run sequence; follow its manual. Webasto Air Top 2000 STC operating instructions.
How are AC shock protection and transfer arrangements verified? Who tests the system in battery, charging, and shore-power modes? Record the approved operating procedure and the results of commissioning.
Finally, ask which owner checks are appropriate before each trip and when professional service is due. Do not change fuse sizes, bypass battery protections, or alter bonding because a device trips. Find and correct the cause through the appropriate service route.
